Jury Instructions - Civil

For civil cases, the Court's standard Preliminary Jury Instructions and many of the Court's standard Final Jury Instructions are linked to this page. The Court will write a case-specific Preliminary and Final jury instruction for each trial describing the main facts, claims, and defenses for the jury. Counsel need not provide any proposed Preliminary Jury Instructions. Counsel need not provide any standard Final Jury Instructions of a general nature for matters such as burden of proof, credibility of witnesses, etc. However, counsel shall provide, no later than one business day before the Final Pre-Trial Conference, his or her case-specific proposed Final Jury Instructions.

A link from this page provides you with Magistrate Judge Cherry's Standard Preliminary Jury Instructions (Civil) and his Standard Final Jury Instructions (Civil).

Proposed jury instructions should be filed electronically and also submitted in Word Perfect or Microsoft Word format to Judge Cherry's Chambers email address
