Final Pretrial Conference

A final pretrial conference is normally held prior to all jury trials. Prior to the final pretrial conference in civil cases, the parties are required to submit a proposed pretrial order. The parties should consult the Local Rules to determine the contents of the pretrial order (see L.R. 16.1(f) and Appendix A). In addition, the contents of the written pretrial order should conform to the "Memorandum of Scheduling Conference and Order Concerning Pretrial Conference and Trial" issued by the court after a trial date is scheduled.

When the plaintiff is proceeding pro se, Judge Miller issues a Memorandum and Order containing a Trial Explanation for Pro Se Plaintiffs at the time the final pretrial conference and trial are scheduled.

The deadlines for filing proposed jury instructions, voir dire questions, motions in limine, trial briefs and the exchange of exhibit and witness lists and subpoenas are contained in the Order Concerning Pretrial Conference and Trial. Judge Miller ordinarily addresses pending motions in limine at the final pretrial conference.
