Final Pre-Trial Conference (Civil)

A final pretrial conference is normally held prior to all jury trials. Prior to the final pretrial conference in civil cases, the parties are required to file a written pretrial order. The parties should consult the Local Rules to determine the contents of the pretrial order. In addition, the contents of the written pretrial order should conform to the "Order for Pretrial Conference, Notice of Trial Setting and Order Controlling the Case," that is issued by the Magistrate Judge in conjunction with the Rule 16(b) Conference associated with each case.

At the final pretrial conference, Judge Moody will give the parties deadlines for filing materials in advance of trial. This includes deadlines for filing proposed jury instructions, voir dire questions, motions in limine, trial briefs and the exchange of exhibit, witness lists and subpoenas. Below is the outline that Judge Moody uses in establishing deadlines in most civil cases. The outline is, of course, subject to alteration given the complexity of the case.
