During the conference, the Magistrate Judge will preside over all discovery matters and set many deadlines. Any trials will be set by Judge Sharp at a later date. Lafayette Cases Judge Sharp will conduct all of the initial pretrial conferences for Lafayette cases. He will ask from each counsel what the case is about and set many deadlines, including setting trial dates.
