The bright-line conference occurs about two weeks after the close of discovery and ordinarily is conducted telephonically. The purpose of the hearing is to schedule the Final Pretrial Conference and Settlement Conference, the Trial Management Conference, and trial and to discuss any other pending issues.  Plaintiff's counsel should also be prepared to clarify the causes of action alleged in the complaint and to discuss the claims the plaintiff intends to pursue going forward.
