Judge Brady: Criminal Trial Procedures

Counsel do not need to ask permission to approach the witness. Counsel need not use the podium. The court expects counsel to stand, if they are able, when questioning witnesses and when addressing the court.

All exhibits are to be marked before trial, and copies are to be furnished to opposing counsel and the court with an exhibit list. Government should mark its exhibits by number and Defendant should mark his/her exhibits by letter.

Any proposed jury instructions (identifying the source and/or supporting authority for each proposed instruction) and any proposed verdict forms must be filed at least 7 days before trial. Proposed jury instructions shall be filed electronically and submitted as an e-mail attachment in Word Perfect or Microsoft Word format to brady_chambers@innd.uscourts.gov
