All initial appearances will be promptly scheduled before Magistrate Judge Michael G. Gotsch, Sr. At the Initial Appearance, the defendant will be advised of his/her rights, the charges and penalties, and will indicate whether he/she wants court-appointed counsel. If the Defendant requires court-appointed counsel, that issue will be referred to the Federal Community Defender and the case will usually be set over for further proceedings.
