Judge Leichty: Decorum and Civility

The Court expects counsel to follow the Circuit’s Standards for Professional Conduct throughout their participation in any case.

Counsel should not exhibit familiarity with witnesses, jurors, or the Court. The use of first names is discouraged. During argument to the jury, no juror should be addressed individually or by name. Counsel should direct arguments to the court, not to opposing counsel. Counsel should stand when addressing the court.
