Judge Leichty: Pretrial Motions

Non-dispositive motions and related forms of order should be directed to the magistrate judge assigned to the case. All other motions, including those under Fed. R. Crim. P. 12(b) and motions related to trial, change of plea, or sentencing should be directed to Judge Leichty. Extension requests related to briefing on these subjects should likewise be directed to Judge Leichty.

The magistrate judge usually enters Judge Leichty’s standard criminal discovery and scheduling order at the time of arraignment. If counsel wish to raise an issue not covered by the standard order, counsel should indicate why the standard order is inadequate in the particular case by the deadline in that order for its modification.
