Judge Leichty: Sentencing

Judge Leichty usually sets sentencing approximately 90 days from a guilty plea or jury verdict of conviction. Absent unique circumstances, the court will set the deadline for any sentencing briefing on the United States Sentencing Guidelines, 18 U.S.C. § 3553(a) factors, or other pertinent matters 10-14 days before sentencing. Any related motions should be filed at the same time. The court issues a sentencing memorandum following each sentencing to all counsel and the defendant at which point judgment will be entered.
