Judge DeGuilio: Laptop Configuration Guidelines

The Northern District of Indiana offers lawyers the ability to make presentations during court
proceedings using their laptop. Technology-ready counsel tables provide quick-connect capability
for counsel to connect their laptop computer into the system.

In order to effectively use this technology, the laptops must be configured properly:

1) A VGA HD15 video display connector.

2) A 1/8" (3.5mm) headphone jack for audio presentations.

3) Display settings must be set to XGA resolution (1024 x 768) at 60Hz in order to display
properly on the Court's monitors.

The laptop can be tested in your office by connecting the video cable to an external monitor or
projector. Many laptops use the function keys F5 or F8 to toggle displays to external monitors.
While in Court, counsel will use the function key to toggle video output from the laptop to the
Court's monitors.
