The United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana invites you to attend a training session for attorneys on modest means/pro bono representation of victims of domestic violence in Indiana. This program will take place via Zoom video conferencing on Friday, February 13, 2026, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Central Time/1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Please note the time and time zone of this event.
The attorney training will be provided by Kerry Hyatt Bennett, Legal Counsel for the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV). The goal of the training is to increase attorney awareness and participation in ICADV’s Satellite Attorney Program, which provides representation to victims of domestic violence. Attorneys will gain the knowledge needed to provide civil legal assistance to survivors of domestic violence for a modest means hourly rate. Attorneys who participate in the Satellite Attorney Program are paid $75 per hour when they represent survivors.
The court’s involvement in this event results from the 2018 passage of the POWER Act, a federal law that requires district courts to participate in one event each year that promotes efforts to “empower survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking” through pro bono legal services. The court is pleased to partner with ICADV to support this important effort.
Attendance for this event is free and open to practicing attorneys in the State of Indiana. Participating attorneys will receive 60 minutes of general CLE and 30 minutes of ethics CLE. Registration is required for this event, which can be done by clicking on the link below:
