The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana occasionally receives reports from victims or law enforcement agencies regarding potential scams. The scams below have been identified as nationwide scams related to the work of the federal courts. If you have received a call, text, or email similar to the scams described below, hang up or delete the message immediately.
- Traffic Violation Scam: The District Court in Northern Indiana does not send text messages about traffic citations.
- Fake Arrest Warrant Alert: Fake arrest warrants are being sent for failure to appear as a witness or for jury duty.
- Jury Duty Scam Alert: People are being targeted by phone call, email, and messaging scams threatening them with prosecution for failing to comply with jury service.
- Court Violation Notices: A fake website is currently impersonating www.cvb.uscourts.gov and may attempt to collect personal or financial information fraudulently.
- Notices of Electronic Filing (NEFs) Scam: Fake Notices of Electronic Filing ("NEFs") are being sent to attorneys and law firms across the country.
